Clubs with Makers exist in schools, community centers, and in neighborhoods. Some are open to new members, and others are only for the youth who are already part of the institution that hosts the club. To add your group to the directory, please fill out our Affiliated Clubs Application.

The Big-Brained Superheroes Club

Seattle, Washington
Contact: Meredith Wenger

The Big-Brained Superheroes Club is on a mission to tap into the hidden strengths that all young people have through the interdisciplinary exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM). At Yesler Community Center, The Big-Brained Superheroes Club is bridging the opportunity gap through deeply innovative and responsive after school programming for the youth of Seattleā€™s Yesler Terrace neighborhood. Tendimus. Discimus. Facimus. We strive. We learn. We make. We in The Big-Brained Superheroes Club confront the arts and sciences from the standpoint that learning about the world is just one small step toward remaking it. And toward remaking ourselves in the process. Every homework assignment is an opportunity for us to exercise our Sense of Adventure superpower, which enables us to try new things (and even make mistakes!). Every interpersonal interaction is an opportunity for us to exercise our Kindness, Empathy, and Respect superpowers. And every big project is an opportunity for us to exercise our Persistence and Adaptability superpowers.
